Thursday the Evansville Police Department joined the rest of the country to raise awareness in distractive driving.
In just a few hours on the city’s west side 21 vehicles were stopped, 18 written warnings, 1 state citation and 2 verbal warnings.
The Connect 2 Disconnect Campaign says, common causes of distracted driving includes, setting the GPS, adjusting the car radio, applying makeup, talking to passengers and texting.
Drivers caught violating Indiana’s hands free law could face a Class C infraction and fines of up to $500.
Points could be added to their license.
