Storm Thorgerson events at Proud Archivist

Storm Thorgerson 1944-2013
This week the Prog magazine-sponsored Storm Thorgerson exhibition The Gathering Storm presents two very special events at Proud Archivist in East London.
Today (Wednesday, November 20) there’s a presentation of Wish You Were Here by Classic Album Sundays with photographer Jill Furmanovsky at the helm, and on Saturday 23rd Japanese-American artist Roddy Bogawa will screen and chat about his documentary Taken By Storm. All events accompany an on-going free exhibition of Storm’s work from his extraordinary 45-year career, as documented in the new hardback book of the same name.
Here’s some more detail about the events:
Classic Album Sundays Presents Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, Wednesday, November 20 at 7pm £10 entry
Classic Album Sundays presents a Wish You Were Here album session with special guest photographer Jill Furmanovsky and Peter Curzon of StormStudios. With another iconic Storm-designed cover, this is the album that secured Floyd as modern masters.
For this special CAS listening session photographer Jill Furmanovsky will be a special guest host. Jill extensively photographed Pink Floyd, including during the recording sessions for WYWH. She will be sharing both her stories of working with Pink Floyd and some of her images, then it’s time to listen to the album uninterrupted, on vinyl on an exquisite hi-fi sound system provided by Grahams Hi-Fi. Taken By Storm – a film by Roddy Bogowa, Saturday November 23 at 1pm and 7pm
Watch Thorgerson life’s work as told through his personal archive of never-before seen photographs and films, ex-partner of Hipgnosis Aubrey Powell, and through first-hand narratives from some of the most important musicians of our time: David Gilmour and Nick Mason, Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel while newer collaborators Biffy Clyro, Rob Dickinson of Catherine Wheel, Dominic Howard of Muse, Cedric Bixler Zavala of The Mars Volta shed light on working with Storm. Also featured are numerous photographers, illustrators and colleagues who have helped execute the work from the days of Hipgnosis to the last 20 years with StormStudios. The film was shot entirely on 16mm film, and made and directed by Japanese-American artist Roddy Bogawa, who will discuss the film after the screening.
