Video: Space Elevator – Elevator

Going up: The Duchess and Neil Murray
The Space Elevator project was instigated by We Will Rock You guitarist David Young, with the aim of harking back to the music of classic-era Queen, Rush, Genesis and Fleetwood Mac.
Unsurprisingly, Space Elevator’s songs sound like they were written by a Spandex-clad Andrew Lloyd Webber (an enduring image) with lyrics by Tim Rice scribbled on the back of a discarded bandana.
Besides Young, the band line-up comprises Elliott Ware (The Who, Rock Of Ages) on keys, Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore) on bass and Brian Greene, one of the busiest session players around, on drums. The line-up is completed by a female lead singer known only as The Duchess.
View the video for Space Elevator’s debut single, Elevator, below. Frankly, we can hardly believe our eyes (or ears). Especially when The Duchess starts cavorting around in a Freddie Mercury-style chequerboard onesie. Is anything in 2014 going to more flabbergasting than this? Frankly, we very much doubt it.
