Evansville’s premiere Barbecue Fest is under way at 5th and Walnut in the downtown area.
Friday’s event is a 21-or-over ticketed event, with Saturday’s festivities, including music and games, free and open to the public.
Cookers from the Kansas City Barbecue Society put their recipies out there in the hopes of making it to the cook-off at the end of the festival, and honors that lead to points for their end-of-season honors.
Visitors can sample.
While the festival has elements of the now-defunct Hydrofest, the Barbecue Fest is hoped to stand on its own merit and become an annual event on Evansville’s calendar.
