If there was ever a year worth shedding a few tears over, 2020 is it. Maybe that’s why one company did some research into where we spend our tearful moments and what we listen to most while we cry. Shower and bathroom supplier Showers To You surveyed 57,000 people in 57 different countries and analyzed 10,000 songs from Spotify playlists to come up with their answers. And it turns out, 74% of people head to the shower when they need to sob.
And what do they like to listen to during those tearful moments? The top five tearjerkers people like to cry to in the shower are:
- “Jealous” by Labrinth
- Tied for second are “Say Something” by A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera and “Someone You Loved” By Lewis Capaldi
- Tied for third place are “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith, “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur and “Dancing on My Own” by Callum Scott
- “Let Her Go” by Passenger
- “Someone Like You” by Adele
The research also looked into which artists folks turn to when they want to have a good cry and the top five are:
- XXXTENTACION
- Ed Sheeran
- Billie Eilish
- Sam Smith
- Adele
