If your Evansville, Henderson, or Owensboro home was scented with a live conifer to celebrate the holidays, then you’re probably ready to “let it go”.
In Evansville:
EWSU will offer the annual Christmas tree disposal service starting Monday, December 28, through Friday, January 15, 2021. Republic Services will collect Christmas trees on the day of the regular trash pick-up.
Trees should be placed next to the regular trash cart. The service is for city residents who pay for trash and recycling services with their monthly water and sewer bill. It is not available to apartment complexes, mobile home communities or retail and commercial businesses.
Live Christmas trees will be accepted at the annual Christmas tree recycling drop-off hosted by the Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District on Saturday, January 9, 2021. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the old Walmart west parking lot on University Drive. Christmas trees will be converted into mulch by a local tree service company to help save landfill space.
In Henderson:
The City of Henderson will be recycling live Christmas trees at Newman Park from Jan. 1 through Feb. 1. The wood chips from the recycled trees will be used on the Canoe Creek Nature Trail in Newman Park.
Trees may be dropped off at Newman Park at the end of the southwest parking lot, past the soccer complex, near the CCNT trail head. (Follow the signs) The park is located on Sand Lane.
Please remove all tinsel and decorations from the trees before disposal.
For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 831-1274.
In Owensboro:
Owensboro Sanitation has scheduled cut Christmas tree pickup beginning Jan. 2 and running through Jan. 7.
Please remove any decorations, stands and avoid putting the trees in bags.
