The man killed inside of a trailer in northern Vanderburgh County on Wednesday has been identified as 41 year old James McClernon of Evansville.
The coroner says he died of multiple gun shot wounds.
Police say Ricky Kiper was not remorseful when he admitted to shooting McClernon because he is a sex offender.
His family says he is on the registry from an dispute that occurred over 20 years ago in Canada and was in the process of having it removed when he was killed.
Kiper appeared in front of a judge on Thursday and is in the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.
