The USI Theatre Department is putting on a production of Dracula (directed by Eric Altheide.) This performance is unique because of our use of an equity (professional) actor and an equity stage manager. This is a vital part of our uniqueness as a program as it offers students the free-of-charge opportunity to learn and grow in a more professional environment. This show is also special due to the fact it is an adaptation of the classic Bram Stoker’s Dracula! This story is written by Kate Hamill in a modern and feminist adaptation of the classic story, with the new idea that the character Dracula (played by our equity actor) represents the misogyny and power of men- contrasting to the plight of women in the time period (and now) and how powerful you can be when you’re pushed to your limit.
The performance of Dracula is October 12-15, and ticket information can be found at: https://usitheatre.universitytickets.com/?cid=167
