The first baby of 2024 was surrendered in Indiana to a Safe Haven Baby Box at Georgetown Township Fire Department.
The organization’s founder Monica Kelsey spoke at the press conference held Monday.
She thanked the anonymous parent who surrendered their healthy newborn. I know this does not come without pain.
The program offers a resource for moms with no other options.
The baby boxes are in several states and have heating and cooling elements to provide comfort for the infants.
The newborn is taken to the hospital for evaluation and will likely be adopted by a family within 45 days.
