A man who was on trial for murder in Evansville has been found guilty of a lesser charge.
Jarid Baltzell was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
The jury took around an hour and a half to reach their decision.
Baltzell was originally charged with attempted murder after the shooting at Washington and South Hebron Avenue on November 5, 2024.
When the victim, Demonzio Armstead, died a few days later, the charge was upgraded to murder.
Baltzell claimed the shooting was in self-defense.
Sentencing is set for April 17.
