One of the founders of WIKY Radio,Bettie Englebrecht has died.
Born in 1920, Bettie attended Bosse High School, and then 2 years at Purdue, finishing her degree at Evansville College, where she met her future husband John A. Englebrecht.
They married during World War II, and joined together in forming WIKY — the first FM station to sign on in the Evansville market.
Active in philanthropic endeavors, Bettie served on the boards of Goodwill and the University of Southern Indiana Foundation from which she received an honorary doctorate.
Visitation is at Boone Funeral Home East on Wednesday from 4 to 8.
