The University of Evansville is congratulating Rami Malek (Class of 2003) on a big awards season.
The school produced a video, honoring his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the film, Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s set to the rhythm of “We Will Rock You” by Queen.
The video celebrates Malek’s success in a montage of people he knew and places he spent time in his undergraduate years. Highlights include the stage of Shanklin Theatre and Harlaxton College in England.
The video was created by current students, Gina DeLise and Jules Iradukunda.
The effort was spearheaded by two of Malek’s closest friends, Amelia McClain and Wes Grantom. They are serving as guest artists in the UE Theatre department.
While at the University of Evansville, Malek performed in Death and the King’s Horseman, The Kentucky Cycle, Book of Days, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, and The Real Thing.
Malek has been recognized for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody, taking home an Oscar, a Golden Globe, SAG Award and BAFTA Award.
