Evansville city budget hearings start this week and, although he’ll no longer be in office, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke wants his job to pay more.
Winnecke’s proposed budget for 2024 increases the mayor’s salary from just over 100- thousand dollars a year to 135-thousand dollars a year.
Winnecke hasn’t taken a raise during his time in office.
Mayor Winnecke also wants to increase the city clerk’s salary from 68-thousand dollars to just over 98-thousand dollars and give most other city employees a 1-percent increase in pay.
