Former Indiana governor Joe Kernan has died.
He was 74.
Kernan died early this (Wed) morning at a South Bend health care facility.
He had been battling Alzheimer’s Disease for several years.
Kernan was elected lieutenant governor with Governor Frank O’Bannon in 1996, and became governor when O’Bannon died in office in 2003.
Kernan then lost his bid for a term of his own in 2004.
