Over a thousand people are having to look for new employment following the shutdown of Champion Labs in southern Illinois.
A letter went out yesterday from First Brands Group, LLC, confirming the permanent closure of the Albion Oil facility.
The letter also explains that the announcement wasn’t made earlier because they were working on an agreement with a buyer that had fallen through.
Champion Labs, an automotive filter manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy last month.
Albion Mayor Wes Harris says he is working with state leaders to help find those employees new jobs.
