A Cynthiana man is accused of stealing copper from his former employer.
Joseph Elpers Jr. was arrested yesterday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on 19 charges of theft.
The employer told EPD that they believed Elpers was selling excess wire returned to the company and pocketing the money.
Investigators discovered records showing he had sold copper wire to at least four separate salvage companies since 2021.
Elpers profited more than $23,000 from the sales.
