A woman told Evansville police that her ex threatened to kill her before allegedly lacing her drink with fentanyl.
Officers went to the 7000 block of Oarsman Junction for a welfare check, where the victim came to the door and recounted her side of the story.
She told officers she believed that he was trying to kill her because he had threatened to do so before.
She then showed them screenshots and text messages as confirmation.
The victim’s father and mother were back at home with the drink and confirmed it was poisoned with an at-home fentanyl test.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
