Centerpoint Energy is proposing a utility rate hike.
The money would be used to recover the costs of 14 years of projects that are now completed.
Those include upgrades to the transmission and distribution systems, complying with federally mandated environmental regulations, and automated metering systems.
The Evansville City Council has hired an attorney for an intervention opposing the utility rate hike.
A public hearing on the rates will be held in Evansville on February 29.
