The Salvation Army would like to express its deepest appreciation to their volunteers, donors, and store partners for making the Red Kettle Campaign possible.

The Salvation Army of Evansville has wrapped up its annual Red Kettle Campaign, and this year the final week of bell ringing included an exciting challenge for donors. A collection of anonymous supporters of The Salvation Army offered a matching challenge December 19-24 with the potential of adding up to $63,000 to the Red Kettles. The 5-to-1 match for all large bill kettle donations encouraged last-minute shoppers to drop $20, $50, or even $100 bills into Red Kettles to see their gifts multiplied by five.

Evansville kettle pics (2a).jpgThe Salvation Army is excited to announce that they surpassed the goal for the match. Almost $15,000 in large bills and $24,000 in smaller donations were collected, unlocking all $63,000 in matching funds and totaling over $102,000 raised the week before Christmas.

“We are incredible grateful to the community for surpassing our Red Kettle Campaign matching challenge! The success of this match week represents the best in Southwest Indiana – the drive to lift our neighbors up, regardless of the cost,” said Captain Brandon Lewis, Corps Officer & Southwest Indiana Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army. “These dollars ensure that vital programs and services for those in-need are able change lives throughout the upcoming year. Thank you for your steadfast belief in our mission, and know that, together, we making a lasting difference in this community!”
