The Evansville police officer who allegedly shot and killed Everett Nunn while responding to a domestic dispute has returned to duty.
Officer Nicholas Helfert was placed on administrative leave following the November 22nd shooting.
EPD Sergeant Anthony Aussieker did not reveal if potential evidence of wrongdoing was uncovered, but did confirm the case is still open pending toxicology.
Per city policy, the findings will be forwarded to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office.
They will determine if Nunn’s killing should result in charges.
A Dayton, Ohio, law firm with experience in high-profile civil lawsuits against police is representing the Nunn family.
