The Electric utility affordability bill passed the Indiana House of Representatives.
House Bill 1002 is designed to hold electric companies more accountable when they raise rates.
If signed into law, the bill would force companies to make a three-year plan for when they expect to raise rates.
Electricity suppliers would also be required to offer low-income customer aid programs.
The bill will now head to the state senate.
