An Evansville man is in jail after he shot himself during an attempted armed robbery.
Hospital staff called the police when Stephen Mitchell arrived with a gunshot wound.
He told officers he gave a ride to an unknown individual who shot him.
The victim told EPD that he met up with Mitchell to buy a PlayStation 5 console.
When the victim got in Mitchell’s car, he sped off and pulled out a gun.
During an altercation, Mitchell accidentally shot himself and crashed the vehicle.
He’s charged with armed Robbery and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
