Tough choices this year. Brand new booths with enthusiastic organizations who brought great new items to the 105th Fall Festival. Our four teams covered Franklin Street Monday and compiled our list of winners Tuesday and trophies were handed out.
The Winners:
The WIKY Golden Acorn Award for Best of the Festival:
Booth 47, The Evansville Pigeon Racing Club for their “Rib Cup.” (Twice baked potato with baked beans and a BBQ rib for a utensil).
2nd Place: Booth 128, St Joe Men’s Club for their “Meat Hammer.”
(A sandwich with sausage patty, German bologna and choice of cheese).
3rd Place: Booth 92, St Phillips Catholic Church and School for their “Westside Burgoo Dog.” (St Phillips famous burgoo over a hot dog).
Best New Item: Booth 44, New Tech High School for their “Wurst Donut.”
(A German sausage in a Donut Bank long john).
Best Dessert: Booth 21, Evansville Young Life for their “Frostbite.”
(A Donut Bank long john filled with soft serve ice cream).
