Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana will welcome The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., October 29–November 1, 2026, at the Broadway Recreational Complex on Broadway Avenue. The display will be open 24 hours a day and free to the public.
The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and bears the names of the 58,281 service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The 375-foot-long replica allows visitors to walk along the names inscribed on the Memorial and pay their respects, reflect and grieve. A mobile education center complements the exhibit with historical displays, videos and tributes to Vietnam veterans.
“Evansville is honored to welcome this powerful tribute to our nation’s veterans and look forward to welcoming visitors into our city as they see this impressive replica of Vietnam Veterans Memorial.” said President & CEO of Explore Evansville, Tom White. “We invite visitors from across the region to join our community in remembering and reflecting on those who served and learning more about this important chapter in American history.”
“The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is pleased to bring The Wall That Heals mobile exhibit to USI and Evansville to allow local veterans and their family members a chance to experience The Wall,” said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of VVMF. “Hosting The Wall That Heals provides an opportunity to honor and remember all those who served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War and educate visitors on the continuing impact of the Vietnam War on America.”
Since its debut in 1996, The Wall That Heals has visited more than 800 communities nationwide. The exhibit is a program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), the nonprofit organization that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
United Services Automobile Association (USAA) has returned as presenting sponsor for the 12th year. Over the past decade, they have traveled to more than 300 communities with VVMF. Wipfli, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is returning for the second year as a sponsor. Through a partnership with the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), the trucking industry and Blue Beacon, the exhibit can travel across the country. The robust partnerships and collaborative efforts between the USI campus, Evansville and Tri-state communities have helped make this display at USI possible.
