Riding the wave of World Cup enthusiasm, Telemundo has acquired exclusive United States Spanish-language television rights for the Champions League and all UEFA men’s soccer events, The Athletic reported Sunday.
Financial details weren’t disclosed. The deal is for three years and begins with the 2027-28 campaign.
Matches will appear on Telemundo, Peacock, Universo and Telemundo’s streaming channel.
Telemundo also owns the U.S. Spanish-language rights to the Premier League and the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams plus Olympic soccer matches.
“There are two major brands in world soccer: World Cup and Champions League,” Telemundo Enterprises chairman Luis Fernandez told The Athletic. “After a truly memorable World Cup for Telemundo, if you ask what comes next, the answer is simple: Champions League.”
Telemundo said it averaged a total audience of 6 million per World Cup match through the semifinals as Peacock combined in sharing the Telemundo feed on its service.
FIFA hasn’t yet reached a deal for English-language or Spanish-language broadcasts for the 2030 World Cup.
